Business Carbon Offsets That Empower The Poorest.

Carbon Offsets To Alleviate Poverty (COTAP) fights both climate change and global poverty. When you offset your business’ carbon footprint through COTAP, your emissions are being balanced by certified forestry projects which create life-changing income for smallholder farmers who live on less than $2 per day.

COTAP’s Business Carbon Offsets Calculator & Notes

Our calculator is thorough, easy to understand, and well-documented. Originally created for individuals, its extensive set of data sources and methodology are equally accurate for small- to medium-sized businesses.

Businesses should use the “actual” method (#2) in the Home section. Record your inputs and results before leaving this page, as our calculator doesn’t retain results. For custom calculations or assistance calculating your business’ carbon footprint, please email us at business at cotap dot org.

Life-changing Income for the World’s Poorest People

COTAP pools carbon offset transactions from individuals and businesses and supports projects which compensate farmers for planting and maintaining trees on under-utilized portions of their land.  Plantings and tree growth are monitored and verified by third parties, and farmer payments are front-loaded and performance-based, paid over a period of 7 to 10 years for plantings which will sequester CO2 over 25 or more years.
